Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Chattanooga, TN – Read House Hotel
Arriving in Chattanooga, TN its “All Aboard!” with a three night stay at the luxurious Read House Hotel – you’ll feel like you’re in a Great Gatsby novel.
Day 2 – Incline Railway – Ruby Falls – Rock City Gardens – Chattanooga Choo Choo Complex & Glenn Miller Gardens
Enjoy breakfast this morning at the hotel. Start the day with a ride on the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway. Known as “America’s Most Amazing Mile,” The Incline’s trolley-style cars climb through the natural beauty surrounding historic Lookout Mountain at a breathtaking 72.7% grade – straight up! Sit back,relax and enjoy the scenic views of the mountains and valleys from the observation windows on the train as well as the panoramic views from the observation tower at The Incline’s top station.
Then take a guided Waterfall Tour of Ruby Falls, a famous cave and waterfall located 1,120 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain and see for yourself why it’s been a popular Chattanooga attraction since 1930.
A visit is also included at “Rock City” Gardens a true marvel of nature featuring massive rock formations, gardens with over 400 native plant species and a breathtaking panoramic view – “See Seven States.”
This afternoon enjoy some free time to explore the Chattanooga Choo Choo Complex and Glen Miller Gardens. The Choo Choo is a destination historic district in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. It is home to boutique stores, restaurants, a micro-distillery and the The Glenn Miller Gardens. The Gardens sits on where the 14 tracks and 7 platforms served millions of train passengers for over 60 years. This 2 acre area offers a beautiful setting is named after the world famous musician who record the Chattanooga Choo Choo song in 1941. The Glenn Miller Choo Choo Gardens offer everything from craft beers in a former Pullman train car to a railroad-themed escape experience. And you’d miss the best Instagram-worthy opportunity in the city if you didn’t get a photo underneath the huge “Chattanooga” sign in the breezeway.
Tonight, dinner is included at Sticky Fingers Downtown Chattanooga. Enjoy BBQ classics that are pit-smoked & slathered in signature sauces at this Southern smokehouse. (B,D)
Day 3 – Blue Ridge Scenic Railway – Chattanooga Legends & Folklore Trolley Tour
Today, ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Departing from the charming mountain village of Blue Ridge, GA, the train travels into the lush Chattahoochee National Forest. The relaxing ride starts at the historic depot, built in 1905 in downtown Blue Ridge, GA, then stops for a layover in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, GA & Copperhill, TN. Copperhill/McCaysville is one town with two names because it is split by the GA/TN State Line, where you have a two hour layover; plenty of time to eat lunch (on your own), shop for unique crafts and antiques, snack on ice cream, visit the model railroad layout, or walk across the old bridge tin town to view the river.
Returning to Chattanooga, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Tonight, enjoy an evening Chattanooga Trolley Tour.
