Day 2 – Sun Studio Tour – March of the Ducks – Graceland – Dinner & Entertainment
Today starts with a visit to Sun Studios – The Birthplace of Rock N’ Roll (1950) and home to the ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ – Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Did you know Studio owner Sam Phillips, a music legend in his own right, discovered BB King and recorded Howlin’ Wolf while working for another label? And, did you know that Sun Studios is still rockin’ today? You never know who may walk in the door as you’re walking out.
Then head to the Peabody Hotel for the March of the Ducks. The Peabody’s famed ambassadors are housed in the “Duck Palace” on the hotel roof. Every day at 11 a.m., they are led by the Duckmaster down the elevator to the Italian travertine marble fountain in the Peabody Grand Lobby. A red carpet is unrolled and the ducks march through crowds of admiring spectators to the tune of John Philip Sousa’s King Cotton March. The ceremony is reversed at 5 p.m., when the ducks retire for the evening to their palace on the roof of the hotel.
The afternoon features the Elvis Experience Tour + Airplanes tour of Graceland. At Graceland, explore Elvis’ home, Graceland Mansion. Fully-immerse yourself in his life and career at the all-new Elvis Presley’s Memphis entertainment complex. Stroll through a rotating pop culture exhibit at the Graceland Exhibition Center. At Graceland, there are more attractions, more great stories – and more to see, hear, taste and explore than ever before.
Dinner is included this evening at the King’s Palace Café. This cozy little joint offers a menu of appetizing Southern delicacies, such as the Memphis style BBQ ribs, Fried Catfish, VooDoo Chicken or many other Cajun specialties. The dining area features plenty of room for hungry patrons, but step off to the side area for a comfortable, relaxed evening of local blues, usually featuring David Bowen, Cowboy Neil, Sensation Band, and Big Don Valentine.
