Itinerary
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Memphis
Travel to Memphis, TN to begin your Southern Adventure. Check into the Drury Inn for a two night stay. Your group can take advantage of Drury’s 5:30pm Kickback with free food and drinks or have dinner on own at local restaurant.
Day 2 – Memphis – Memphis Mo Jo Tour – Sun Studio – Rock n’ Soul Museum – Stax Records
Full Day Memphis Musical Tour. You visit the Sun Recording Studio. Considered the Birthplace of Rock & Roll, it is where Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley and other Rock Pioneers recorded. You also have admission to the Rock N’ Soul Museum where you can relive the complete story of Memphis music history as researched by the Smithsonian Institution.
This Museum tells of the musical pioneers and legends of all racial and socio-economic backgrounds who, for the love of music, overcame great obstacles to create the sound that changed the world. Next, you tour the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. With more than 2,000 cultural artifacts, music exhibits, video footage, and items of memorabilia, the museum is designed to preserve and promote the legacy of American soul music, particularly that of Stax Records.
After this day of sightseeing you enjoy a visit to Beale Street and a dinner at the Blue City Cafe where the music is as spicy as the barbecue. Then for an evening of laughter and fun you will enjoy the Mojo Tour. With a Guitar Player on your bus you navigate the streets singing the songs that made the Southern City famous, while visiting the sites associated with the music. It is one of the most unique sightseeing tours in America and a real good, feel good time. (B,D)
Day 3 – New Orleans
Today, you will travel to New Orleans, LA. On arrival, check into your hotel in the French Quarter for a two night stay. The evening is free time explore the Quarter and find a nice dinner on your own. (B)
Day 4 – New Orleans – City Tour – Mardi Gras World – Dixieland Jazz Dinner Cruise
Enjoy a morning of sightseeing with a Walking Tour of the French Quarter, one of America’s oldest and most unique neighborhoods! Follow in the footsteps of historic figures as you stroll along the Mighty Mississippi, through the French Market and Jackson Square. You will see the Vieux Carre come to life as your guide explains its secrets and helps you understand its architecture, courtyards, gardens, food, music, and art.
Next, visit Mardi Gras World to see the giant parade floats and learn of their construction and tradition. Then following a free afternoon you enjoy a Dixieland Jazz Dinner Cruise on the Mississippi. You will enjoy the beauty and romance of New Orleans skyline while the sounds of a lively jazz band fill the air that has been scented by a lavish Creole buffet. (B,D)
Day 5 – Memphis
This morning you depart New Orleans by bus and return to Memphis for one last night. This evening your group can take again advantage of Drury’s 5:30pm Kickback with free food and drinks or have dinner on own at local restaurant. (B)
