Day 3 – The Hillside Winery – Apple Barn Winery – Mill Bridge Winery – Sugarland Cellars – Molly Brown Dinner on the Titanic
Today, enjoy a full day on the Pigeon Forge Wine Trail. You’ll enjoy locally made wines and cider, while learning the history of making spirits in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Start at the Hillside Winery, which brings the vineyards of Tuscany to the Great Smoky Mountains! Featuring Italian-style and celebratory wines, Hillside Winery also offers more traditional wines like Sangiovese, to the best-selling Black and Blue, to the award-winning Muscadine Mist. Hillside Winery truly has something for not only every person, but every occasion, too.
Next, visit the Apple Barn Winery. Located on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in the Apple Barn Village, the Apple Barn Winery offers a unique twist on wine: instead of grapes, they use locally grown apples to handcraft the wine on-site! And while you’re visiting, be sure to visit the world-famous Apple Barn General Store & Cider Mill, two great restaurants, a bakery, and more!
The afternoon starts at the Mill Bridge Winery. Located in the Old Mill Historic District of Pigeon Forge, Mill Bridge Winery offers both a variety of local wines and handcrafted Hard Cider. Spend the afternoon sitting on the outdoor patio overlooking the Little Pigeon River with your cider flight tasting or glass of wine. The staff will be happy to take you through a guided tasting experience and introduce you to their most distinctive offerings.
Then visit Sugarland Cellars. Each of their wines has a name associated with an important historical figure, key location, or other fact about the surrounding area. Popular offerings include a loganberry wine called Elkmont, a 100% Cherry wine called Cherry-Kee, and more traditional offerings such as Pinot Noir and Malbec. Enjoy a tasting of these wines and many more at the unique tasting bar, which is nearly in the center of the winemaking area! Friendly tour guides will take you through the cellar, with a brief introduction to the world of winemaking, and help to answer any questions you might have about the Gatlinburg area.
End the day at the Titanic Museum for a Dinner with Molly Brown. Guests will sit-down with Margaret “Molly” Brown in Titanic’s “Secret” private dining room for a first-class dinner in her honor. Learn how she became one of the most successful and famous women in the world, how and why she was on Titanic and the truth about her actions during and after the fatal sinking disaster. It promises to be a Titanic experience that your guests will never forget, especially if you dress for the evening in style for the occasion. (B,D)
