Itinerary
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Nashville – Opryland Resort Lodging
Today, you travel to Nashville, TN where you check into the Opryland Resort Hotel for a three night stay. Enjoy a free evening to explore the hotel and have dinner on your own.
Day 2 – Country Music Hall of Fame – Songwriters Session – George Jones Museum – Old Red
After breakfast this morning you start with a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum. For more than 40 years, the Museum has been home to thousands of priceless artifacts, images, and sounds that have inspired young and old from around the globe.
After touring the Country Music Hall of Fame, you join one of Music City’s many accomplished writers for an hour-long session of songwriting. By offering personal insight and direction, the writer guides your group in creating an original song of their own. This unique experience concludes with a group recording of their newly created song.
Later this afternoon, visit the George Jones Museum. Experience the history and see George Jones memorabilia up close and personal. Watch performances, listen to music, and see pieces of George’s incredible history. By most accounts, George Jones was the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music. Initially, he was a hardcore honky tonker in the tradition of Hank Williams, but over the course of his career he developed an affecting, nuanced ballad style. In the course of his career, he never left the top of the country charts, even as he suffered innumerable personal and professional difficulties.
Dinner this evening is included at Ole Red. Inspired by Blake Shelton’s No. 1 hit, Ole Red is always itchin’ to have a little fun with food, drink, and music that raises the bar on Broadway. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Full Day Opry Birthday Celebration – Grand Ole Opry
Following breakfast at the hotel this morning, you will enjoy a full day of activities celebrating the Opry’s 98th Birthday including the Opry’s birthday cake, plus a special birthday concert, backstage tours, free music in the Opry Plaza, and more!
As part of your “Birthday” package you may take a self-guided tour of the Ryman Auditorium. Established in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle, Ryman Auditorium is a National Historic Landmark and must see for any Nashville visitor. Most famous as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 — 1974, there is far more to the story of Music City’s most recognizable icon.
Also included today is a Backstage Tour of the Grand Ole Opry House. Walk in the footsteps of country music’s superstars and get an exclusive look at what happens behind the scenes of the show that made country music famous!
You will have a Picnic Lunch voucher that you can use at one of the food vendors on the Plaza. There will also be plenty of live music to enjoy on the Plaza during the day. The afternoon also includes a Special Birthday Concert with a featured Country Music Artist (TBD).
End the day with tickets for the Grand Ole Opry Show. For more than 85 years, country’s best have mesmerized audiences at the Grand Ole Opry Live Radio Show, the show that made country music famous. Each Opry show features an array of performances by new stars, superstars and legends of country music as well as great bluegrass, comedy and more. Opry shows are never rehearsed and never the same show twice. (B,L)
